"A Year with Frog and Toad" is a delightful musical about love, friendship, and family. It is an uncomplicated story about very complicated emotions and relationships. Love always wins in the end.

The music is unpretentious, upbeat, and folksy. Listen for yourself on Spotify or other music apps. (really do this, it's good to be prepared)

Characters

CASTING REQUIREMENTS:

1. Frog - Frog is the Brain of the play. He's a straight man. The Bert to Toads Ernie. The Abbott to Toads Costello.  Suggested stage age between the ages of 20 and 50.

2. Toad - Toad is the Heart of the show. He is all emotion and absolutely lovable. He worries constantly that he is a good enough friend to Frog. He wears his heart on his sleeve so to speak and he is wounded easily but very quick to forgive. He is described as male 20 - 50.

3, 4, and 5. The birds- The birds serve as narrators in songs throughout the show. They appear at the beginning and end of each act. They are silly and a little self-serving but in the end, they are kind and caring.

6. Snail - Snail is comic relief to some extent. They have an important part to play, however. Snail is tenacious; never giving up although the task that is set before them is, for a snail, herculean in scope. Snail is the definition of perseverance.

7, 8, and 9. Mother Frog, Father Frog, and Young Frog will act out a scary story as told by Frog to his good friend Toad. These actors will also play the roles of Mouse, Turtle, Lizard, Squirrels (1,2,3), and Moles (1,2,3)

10. The BIG AND TERRIBLE FROG - The BTF is a character in Frog's story about Young Frog. He's mean, he's green and he's kinda full. How many young frogs is a BTG expected to eat anyway?
