Our Covid PRecations
Acting Out! has been creatively adjusting to the “new norm” and discovering ways to safely engage with our students since the summer of 2020. Please read below what we are doing as an organization to follow CDC guidelines and Gov. Bakers’s safety precautions.
In compliance with Gov Baker’s rules, our class sizes will be limited to 15-20 students per class, which are then divided into small groups of 10 or less to allow for social distancing. Our 6500ft facility provides adequate space for each group, allowing for safe social interactions while maintaining distanced. Theater is an expressive art rooted in community, so our goal is to be innovative in how we social distance. Many improvements have been made to the theater over the few months specifically around health and safety protocol. All staff will be trained in cleaning procedures for the theater that includes sanitizing before, after, and during each day. Staff is well informed on hand-washing policies and other social distancing guidelines. There will be temperature checks prior to each class, and PPE will be on hand for all, though we recommend bringing your own mask for we will be wearing them throughout each class! Parents and guardians are strongly advised to keep students’ home if there are any indications of illness. In addition, first-day registration and pick up & drop off will be coordinated outside to eliminate large groups inside our space. The safety of our community is of the utmost importance to us and as new guidelines and protocols emerge, we will continue to add those to our program.
Our final performance at the end of each course will be filmed for everyone to enjoy in the safety of their home. For the final performance, students will be allowed to take off their masks! We have worked this way throughout the summer and fall, and to ensure minimal germs are spread, we plan for only a few students on stage at once, with no students in the audience. We are all looking forward to a fun Spring filled with new learning experiences, challenging performances, creative opportunities, and of course laughs. Our goal is to encourage your children to try new things, gain confidence, and feel proud of their accomplishments. Although our Spring sessions are different from years prior, we feel quite sure that this “new norm” will be as rewarding as years past!"
