Acting Out! Theater Company will be providing five weeks of summer programing starting in July. As society is changing around us, Acting Out! is creatively finding the “new norm” and discovering ways to safely engage with our students.
Please read below what we are doing as an organization to follow CDC guidelines and Gov. Bakers safety precautions.
Our first week begins after Phase 3, which marks the start of allowable summer programs. In compliance with Gov Baker’s rules, class sizes will be limited to 20 students per week but divided into groups of 10 to allow for social distancing. Our 6500ft facility provides adequate space for each group, while also the opportunity to have safe social interactions. Theater is an expressive art rooted in community, so our goal is to be innovative in the ways in which we social distance. Many improvements have been made to the theater over the last two months specifically around health and safety protocol. All staff will be trained in cleaning procedures for the theater that includes sanitizing before, after, and during each day. Staff is well informed on hand-washing policies and other social distancing guidelines and their temperatures will be taken daily. We have PPE on hand for all. Parents and guardians are strongly advised to keep students’ home if there are any indications of illness. Things like first-day registration/check in and pick up & drop off will be coordinated outside to eliminate large groups inside our space. The safety of our community is of the utmost importance to us and as new guidelines and protocols emerge, we will continue to add those to our program.
Our final performance at the end of the week will be filmed for everyone to enjoy in the safety of their home. We are all looking forward to a fun week filled with new learning experiences, challenging performances, creative opportunities, and of course laughs. Our goal is to encourage them to try new things, gain confidence and feel proud of their accomplishments. Although our summer sessions are changing this year, we feel quite sure that this “new norm” will be as rewarding as years past!
